Tina Tippit

Bio

Tina Tippit, a graduate of the Texas Tech University, College of Mass Communications, is a professional writer/photographer/performer.

For Broadway, she has contributed material to THE WIZ; she has written sketches, blackouts, and musical material to many revues: SECRETS EVERY SMART TRAVELLER SHOULD KNOW; STYLE, BABY, STYLE (Cab Calloway and Judith Jameson); PLAYBOY ON BROADWAY; ANY NUMBER CAN PLAY; MORE SWEET REASON (O’Neill Dinner Theatre in Toronto); STRAIGHT UP WITH A TWIST (Chicago) and others in New York and Florida. She has written a full-length musical, GRINGO.

With her husband, William F. Brown, author of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical THE WIZ, she is co-bookwriter of the musical HAVE A NICE DAY, co-author of the comedy MIXED DOUBLES, and a musical revue, COLE. She is co-author of a screenplay, TEN BAGS FULL; co-creator of a television pilot, ON THE ROCKS, and is co-authoring a children’s book, SERGEANT SPIDER.

Ms. Tippit has developed material for Imogene Coca, George Gobel, Hermione Gingold, and Virginia Graham. In television, she has written for AS THE WORLD TURNS; for Eartha Kitt’s WHO’S WHO IN THE ZOO? She wrote a TV special called SANTA MOUSE. She was a staff writer for AS THE WORLD TURNS. In the industrial field, her material has been used in various shows including Ford, Pitney Bowes, State Farm Insurance, and IBM.

She began her professional writing career while in college at the age of 19 as a gag writer for comic features and has been published in all major magazines, including The New Yorker. Her material has appeared many times on THE TONIGHT SHOW.

For several years she served as the official photographer for The Lucille Lortel Theatre In New York, and The White Barn Theatre in Westport.

As a performer, she has done regional theatre; made guest appearances on various radio and television talk shows, such as THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW, and the CBS special MADE IN NEW YORK. She has also appeared as a model for Oleg Cassini, and as a print model for AT&T, Coca Cola, U.S. Rubber, and others; as well as in TV and radio commercials. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild, and a charter member of The Theatre Artists Workshop.
