Bio

THEATRE: Her one-act THE GIRLS opened in February at the Electric Lodge in Venice, California as part of Apartment A’s AN EVENING ON THE BRINK. THREE was produced by Apartment A in the fall of 2004 (LA Times Critic’s Pick). A one-act version of THREE was a part of Apartment A’s EVENING IN BED 2003 production. THE BREAKUP NOTEBOOK was a 2002 GLAAD Award nominee, and is currently being adapted with composer Lori Scarlett into a musical. THE BREAKUP NOTEBOOK: The Musical, is scheduled to open at the Renberg Theatre, Los Angeles in the Fall of 2005. She co-wrote the book and lyrics to FAT: THE MUSICAL, a musical comedy about eating disorders, which premiered at the Celebration Theatre, LA and her monologues POISON and HAIRCUT (performed by Jane Lynch) were featured in the show PHOBIA at the Century City Playhouse. Ms. Cotter has created MULAN, Jr. a musical stage-adaptation of the Disney film MULAN, for young audiences for Disney Theatricals and Music Theater International.

Small screen: PYRAMID (hosted by Donny Osmond, Sony Pictures Television 2002-2004 seasons, PAX Television 2004-2005), STREET SMARTS, (Game Show Network), Promos NBC (promotional material for MSNBC and NBC comedy lineup.) In 2004 she received a Daytime Emmy Award for her writing on Comedy Central’s WIN BEN STEIN’S MONEY

Film: Her short film KRAZY GIRLS won Best Short in L.A.’s Outfest Film Festival, and COLOUR ME GAY: THE MODERN HOMOSEXUAL’S GUIDE TO COMING OUT was an official selection of the New York Comedy Film Festival. She is co-writing a screenplay with Dustin Hoffman for his company, Punch Productions, and is currently writing MARILYN for Fox Television and Naked Angels Theater Company’s production of NAKED TV 2, which will premiere in April of 2005.

She is a former member of the Groundlings Sunday Company and a member of the Writer’s Guild of America West.
