Freddy Wexler

Freddy Wexler, 23, is an artist/songwriter/producer signed to EMI Music Publishing where he has written and/or produced for established artists such as Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwen Stefani. Freddy started a career in the record business as the youngest Sony Music intern and pursued his own songwriting efforts on the side. In 2004, Freddy was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania where he quickly recorded his own music demo.

In 2006, he discovered fellow New York City songwriter, Stefani Germonatta (aka Lady Gaga) who hired him to produce her original demos. According to sources, Freddy presented Stefani to his bosses as “the next Madonna” but was met with overwhelming resistance. Still, the two developed an incredible friendship and music that garnered highly lucrative contracts for each of them. Freddy’s singing and writing allegedly earned him the largest record deal for any artist in 2006.

With the merger of Capitol Records, Freddy bought back the rights to his music and focused on his career as a songwriter. His first major cut was a single for Norweigian pop star Marion Raven (whose first single he co-produced with Nikki Six of Mötley Crüe). Freddy collaborated with renowned creatives, including Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Faith No More, Train), Matt Squire (Boys Like Girls, Panic at the Disco), John Feldman (The Used, Story of the Year, Atreyu, Ashlee Simpson), the Wizardz of Oz (Avril Levine, Brittney Spears), Russ Dessalvo (Celine Dion, Marc Anthony), Shep Goodman (Vitamin C, Marcy Playground, LFO), Jimmy Harry (Kelly Clarkson, Pink), Tim Palmer (U2, Goo Goo Dolls), Serban Ghenea (Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Katy Perry), Tom Lord-Alge (Fall Out Boy, Avril Levine, Rolling Stones), Chris Lord-Alge (Black Eyed Peas, Green Day), and Ron Saint Germaine (Michael Jackson, Creed, Bad Brains, Muse). During this time, he also penned the promotional theme songs for Dancing with the Stars and The Bachlorette.

In 2008, Freddy was hired to cohost “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning,” the largest syndicated music morning show in America. Based out of Texas, and stretching across 75 cities across the country, Freddy became a poster-child for independent pop music, speaking to an audience of roughly three million daily listeners and performing on major television morning shows and sharing the stage with such acts as Maroon 5, Good Charlotte, Paramore, Katy Perry, Forever the Sickest Kids, The New Temptations, Gym Class Heroes, Simple Plan, Ryan Cabrera, and Colbie Caillat. Independently, his music achieved great success; he had a #1 song on Satellite Radio and a Top 30 song on Billboard.

In 2010, Freddy returned to Philadelphia and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania. For his final project, he began his first rock musical: The Intern. In August, Freddy signed a recording contract with Roxy Recordings/Universal. The label released a teaser single, “Where There is Love (I’ll Be There),” which became the #1 played YouTube video in Sweden, Russia, France, Argentina, and South Africa. The single, which contains an interpolation of “I’ll Be There” by The Jackson 5, received an official endorsement by the song’s original writers. Currently, Freddy is producing several recording artists and collaborating on his second musical: “Phenomenon.” He has been written about in countless media outlets, ranging from Cosmopolitan to The Financial Times, and is endorsed by several major brands, including Gibson and Yamaha.
